I am a fishing guide, working in Western Nova Scotia, specializing in day trips to lakes in this area. We would fish for trout, from the first of April until the middle of June, then It would be mainly smallmouth bass, perch or chain pickerell. I provide a shore lunch of fresh caught fish and potatoes, unless were down on our luck, in that case it would be beans instead of fish. This has only happended to me once so far!
