Canadian singer-songwriter Cheryl Gaudet is one of those unique artists who balances sincerity and surprise without apology.

South Shore Moon, Cheryl's second and much anticipated CD, is a genuine fusion of folk, funk, roots, and rock.

The music is soulful and immediate with a confident, stripped-down feel that gets to the heart of the matter. Woven with themes of love and reflection, both personal and political, its tales illustrate what she feels passionate about these days. "I'm affected by what I see in the world and I let it flow through me when I write. I was always drawn to music that had something to say."

Cheryl delivers her material with relentless rhythms and rich, open-tuned acoustic guitar, supported by Brian Bourne's Chapman Stick prowess and the compelling grooves of legendary drummer, Tom Roach. Award-winning producer/engineer Terry Pulliam co-produced South Shore Moon with Cheryl. "We went for a live feel, pushing Cheryl's signature guitar and vocals out front. She's got a right hand that won't quit and a voice that is alive and captivating. She knows how she wants her tunes to sound and it's my job to facilitate. There are no gimmicks - it's all about the songs."

Cheryl is no stranger to the music scene and has been enjoying airplay since her first broadcast recording with CBC radio in 1985. As a young folkie performing in coffeehouses and festivals in Nova Scotia, it was obvious that music would play a major role in her life. During her decade-long stay in Toronto she was a fixture on the thriving performing circuit there, regularly featured at popular venues such as Free Times Café, C'est What? and the Rivoli. Her drive to foster a musical community inspired her to create and host a weekly radio show on CIUT featuring singer-songwriters performing live in the studio. In 1989, she founded the Eaglewood Earth Festival (now known as Eaglewood Folk Festival), and spent four years laying the foundation for what has become Canada's premier songwriters festival.

In 2000 Cheryl's first independent release, Green On Blue, put her back in the limelight on the East Coast. She followed it up with national radio play, an ECMA showcase, features on numerous compilation cds, opening spots for Susan Aglukark and Sarah Harmer, songwriters circles with the likes of Ian Thomas and Bruce Guthro, a feature on Atlantic Airwaves and appearances at such notable events as Stanfest, Festival by the Sea and Eaglewood.

Now, with her new release, co-written with husband, John Rogers, Cheryl, fully revived following a recent health crisis, is back in the groove, writing, performing and reconnecting with her audience, more determined than ever to shine with South Shore Moon.
