When Michele’s great grandfather Randolph built his sailloft at the end of Second Peninsula, near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, all “engines” were made of fabric, usually canvas. They had to be reliable! Although the canvas is usually Dacron now, some things have not changed in 96 years …same sailloft, same quality.
How a good sail is made depends upon the conditions under which it is required to perform. Each sail poses a different challenge for the sail maker.

So before we hand craft one for you, we need to get to know you a bit – and learn about your boat and how you plan to sail her. Whenever possible, we deal directly with our customers, one at a time. We’re not satisfied unless you are! Quality workmanship is our pledge to you!

We pledge to deliver a superior product at a competitive price. Our talented crew also provides quality custom accessories for your boat such as dodgers, sail covers and cushions.

Our loft constructed the backdrop for the East Coast Music Awards in 1999 and the colourful sail shapes for Dartmouth’s Alderney Landing. Oversized banners for “Bluenose II” and the Alexander Keith banner for “The Bounty ” are other examples of our custom work.

In August 2005 our loft was honoured to build the largest working mainsail in the world for “Bluenose II”. Please ask us to provide a quote on quality products for your own “sailing ambassador”.
