The growth has enabled their office to offer a broader, more comprehensive range of services to their clients. The new office is located on the fourth floor of 197 Dufferin Street - the Dawson Centre.

"Focusing on all aspects of a client's wealth management needs and using all our partners within the Scotiabank Group is what makes dealing with our office a unique experience," explained Mark Sapp, a wealth advisor with over 10 years of investment industry experience.

"When a client deals with Scotia-McLeod, our commitment is to ensure we utilize all our resources. They are experts in various fields - will and estate, financial planning and insurance - and they are all available in-house," Mr. Sapp continued.

ScotiaMcLeod also engages local professional partners, such as the accounting firms in the community, to help provide a broader range of services to its clients.

The ScotiaMcLeod office includes wealth advisor John Campbell, wealth advisor Mark Sapp and administrative associate Susan Barrett.

The office also includes The Bears Group made up of Darcy Bears, a senior wealth advisor as well as a chartered accountant; David Mitchell, an investment associate; and Wanda Whynot, their administrative associate, who adds over 26 years of experience in the investment industry to the group.

"We are a three-person team dedicated to understanding our client's needs and providing cost-effective solutions," explained Mr. Bears.

Mr. Campbell noted that all of his partners in the new Bridgewater location are in their late 30s or early 40s, something that will help to ensure a continuity for clients who are looking to work with the same team to manage their financial assets over the longer term.

"I think clients want to hear that they can build a long-term relationship with their wealth advisor," he said, a comment echoed by both Mr. Bears and Mr. Sapp.

The economic downturn over the past year has created a lot of conversations between investors and their advisors around what has caused the downturn and how long will it last.

"No investor or advisor has ever seen a downturn of this magnitude that has lasted this duration during their careers, no matter how long their tenure," Mr. Campbell said, agreeing that it has been a turbulent time for many people who have invested their life's savings.

Their office's approach has been to ensure that they have been accessible to their clients through this time of uncertainty, providing constant updates and communication.

Those communications in conjunction with making the right investment decisions for their clients and having the right asset allocation and ongoing portfolio monitoring in place has limited their clients' exposure to the market downturn.

The Bears Group was established with the single purpose of providing an outstanding client experience," said Mr. Bears.

"Gone are the days of peddling a hot stock or fund," he added. "The role of the wealth advisor has evolved where clients demand more for their dollar and our consultative process provides more value."
